So you are starting your dream business.  Most likely you will name it Smith and Smith.  I first did.  But what if, you want to sell it off one day.  And then there is no Smith at Smith and Smith.

Unless you are a celebrity with much fame, think of a big catchy name for your little business---but without your family name in the game.  Not only does it give you a little more clout by not sounding like a mom and pop shop, it might turn into a little more cash.

How? Why the next owner is able to leverage the name without much cash.  All logo’s and existing good branding is in place if their name happens to be Grace.  Smith and Smith might sound good to your ears, but does it sound big and catchy enough to be a national brand one day or to someone named Grace?

Be smart, think brand smart! (P.S. Samantha is not my legal first name as needed something to sound smart with smart! And just like Dear Abby...there can easily be someone to take my place as the next SmartSamantha.)
